He talked suceesslrely to the
Joint assembly of tbe third and
fourth grades, fifth and six
grades, and serenth and eighth
grades. To each group he ex
ezplalned the method of acquiring
good penmanship. Illustrating his
talks with demonstrations on the

gen State Motor association. Men

lem were present. -
An expenditure of $770,000 Is
estimated necessary to complete
the Linn county road betwen Al
bany and Sisters, the speaker
said. Thus far total expenditures
on the Linn county road total
$1,451,190.37, Including $74r
851.01 of state funds and $232.-
S85.28 of Linn county funds.. The
federal gorernment furnished the
remaining $410,454. i
Dr. McDanlel said that in con
trast $1,422.57C.16 has been
spent on the North Santlam high
way, of which 1181,000 was con
tributed by Marlon county and
the remaining by the federal gorernment.
