PAGE SIX Fashion Bridge Success, Says Committee ' Guests- at the Salem Junior Woman's club fashion bridge beld " Tuesday night at the clubhouse on Cottage street Joined the Sa lem Juniors In celebrating the Golden Jubilee of the General Federation- of Women's Clubs of which the local junior club is a member. Funds will go to the General Federation Foundation fund, and the "party is the first benefit of its kind to be held in Salem. Other clubs through ouo the nation are holding simi lar parties this year inhonor of SO years of progress in women's clubs. ; . i . Miss Marcelle DeMytt, presi dent of the Salem Juniors, ex pressed the S appreciation to the guests for their part in the Gol den Jubilee party. Miss Hazel Shutt, accompanied by Miss Ruth Bedford, sang a group of num bers. Autumn flowers and bright leaves decorated the clubhouse and made an effective background for the fashion revue, staged by a group of local shops. Little Miss Sandra Lee Nash, modeling a white bunny coat and matching turban, delighted the audience. An outstanding array of the latest fashions was mod eled by a group of attractive debs and matrons including: Miss Margaret Shurtleff, Miss Patricia Noonan, Miss Caroyl Braden, Miss Jessie Cooper, Miss Velma May, Miss Patricia Thelwell, Miss Lee Ryan, Mrs. J. Deane Patterson, and Mrs. Frank N. Waters. Mrs. John W. Cattralh was the commentator for the revue and Miss Margaret Hinkle the pianist. Prizes for cards went to Mrs. W. J. Busick and Mr. Harry V. Collins, contract; Miss Mabel Currie, auction; and Miss Clara Zuber, pinochle. Arrangements for the party were made by Mrs. Jack Carlon, , chairman, Mrs. Joseph Tompkins, - Mrs. Verne Robb, Mrs. Ralph Steele, Mrs. Frank Krauger, Mrs. Clinton Standish, Mrs. John Gop lerud. CRANBERRY NUT COBBLEH 2 cups sugar 1 cup water 4 cups (1 pound) fresh cran berries H cup chopped walnuts Grated rind 1 orange 2 tablespoons butter 2 cups flour - 4 tablespoons sugar 4 teaspoons baking powder M teaspoon salt 4 tablespoons shortening 4 cup milk Heat sugar and water te boil ing point; add cranberries, wal nuts, orange rind and butter and let stand while mixing biscuit dough. Sift dry ingredients to gether; blend in shortening and add milk. Roll out dough to '. inch thickness.
