Angel American Legion and auxiliary hare mapped out a busy weekend for the two organizations. The regular Legion dance at the Memorial ball Friday night, Octo ber 27, will claim the attention of all members as well as the other married people of the town.: An extra feature of the dance Friday will be a chicken and noodle sup per to be served after midnight by Mrs. Frank walker, wife of the post commander. - On Saturday, beginning about 10:00 a.m., delicate Hungarian pastries, special cakes and pies. and many other favorite dishes will be on sale at Oswald's store when the auxiliary food sale gets under way. Mrs. Frank Walker will be tn. charge. Each auxiliary member is expected to donate tome article of food. A merchandise shoot will be held by the post Sunday, October 29. at the Ertel ranch. Hot lunches will be provided for the men by the women of the auxiliary under the direction of Mrs. Frank Dur schmidt. Lunch will be" served in the clubhouse on the shooting grounds. Jefferson Church Croups Are Active ' h Fire Prevention Will Be Studied AUMSVILLE At a meeting of volunteer firemen, held here last week a decision was made to hold meetings regularly in the first and third Tuesday nights of each month, at which times a study of fire prevention will be taken up in addition to routine business. Beginning with November 2, a series of six card parties, with ta bles of 500 and pinochle, will be held. A small admission fee will be charged, and refreshments will be served free. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Malone have as a guest at their home, Rol land Johnsen of Klamath Falls.. Linn County Farm Meeting Planned ALBANY Dates for meetings In the 11 agricultural benefit program communities In Linn county are being arranged ac cording to Floyd C. Mullen county agent, for the purpose of electing committeemen to serve during the next year in the administra tion of the soil conservation proj ect. ,, The various meetings will be supervised by the respective pres ent community committee chair men, but will probably be ar ranged so that the county agent will be able to be present at each meeting. See Old Friends From Illinois HUBBARD Mr. D. W. Shrock and Arthur Shrock of Needy, Walt er Shrock of Hubbard went to Portland, Friday to hear and see an old-time friend. Dr. Harlan Tarbell, mental specialist enter tainer, who performed at an American Legion program. The Shrocks and Dr. Harlan were all raised in Groveland, 111. Dr. Harlan was a guest of the Shrocks, Saturday. Waldo Hills Club Will Give Dance WALDO HILLS George Shock- ley is again confined to the bed after several days np and abont his place. Mr. Sbockley has been ill for several months. The Waldo Hills .Community club is making plans for its first dance of the season to be held November 4 at the club house. Phillips, who is confined with a broken hip, is progressing nicely. The Bill Hardys have rented the Ramsey place. Mr. Hardy also has rented the farm land on the Mack place while the Hoffman brothers have rented the Mack house, moving there from the Al Tucker house. Mission Rally at Monmouth JEFFERSON Members of the Jefferson Evangelical Woman's Missionary society who attended the missionary rally at Monmouth Friday were Mrs. Frank Rehfeld, Mrs. J. T. Jones, Mrs. Karl Kihs, Mrs. Nettie Reeves, Miss Anna Klampe, Mrs. William Lake and Mrs. William Wolfe. Accompanying the group were Frank Rehfeld, Karl Kihs, Wil liam Lake and daughter, Dorothy. Rev. William Elmer attended the ministers meeting. It was one of the largest rallies held in the Sa lem district Two hundred six women enjoyed the dinner served at decorated tables in the church basement Salem presided at the meeting Kings Valley society was awarded the banner, having every member of their society present. Salem First Evangelical will entertain Christian church, of which Mrs. R. the spring rally. The Missionary group of the S home Friday afternoon. At 1 o'clock luncheon was enjoyed, af ter which Mrs. Wetherell discussed the study book, "Homeland Har vest." Mrs. Irvine Wright's division were entertained at the home of Mrs. Guy Aupperle, and introduced the new study book. A covered dish dinner was served at 1 o'clock. Eight ladies were pres ent. This was brought about by the addition of Mrs. W. A. Gueffroy of another term to the requirements for graduation. Nine terms are now required. Walter Vincent of Mapleton was elected freshman president; Joe Mahar of Parkdale, vice presi dent, and Beverly Morlan, Mon mouth, secretary; Betty Doris Kirk and Edith Svenson, Portland, Wetherell is leader; met at her I council women: Bob Cole, Wood land, Cal., and Morton Howard, Monmouth, council men.
