In celebration of National Hos
pital day today hundreds of rial
tors will be entertained at 8alem's
hospitals. and ;will be shewn - the
excellent "equipment available to
people of the Tlclnlty. The Salem
General hospital is an old lnatltu
tion, with a long record4 of serTice,
and Is one of-the IS standardised
Oregon hospitals outside of Port
land.

Hospitals and boasts an-excellent
staff of graduate nurses.it. t:

On - the floor aro two lying-in
rooms, two delivery rooms and fire

bed wards was furnished by
Charles and Mary Park, the other
was equipped by the Rotary club
and Is maintained through a fund
given by them each year. -
-iThe supervisor of nurses in this
department is a post graduate) of
DeLeo. the Chicago Lying-lax hos
pital, one ef the nation's outstand
ing obstetrical institutions ot the
country. .
There .are 7J adult beds la the
hospital. On the third floor a new
ly painted children's ward accom
modates young patients. The first
floor houses reception rooms, offi
ces, laboratory and x-ray rooms. :

The Salem General hospital has
a well equipped surgery with two
major and minors operating
rooms. Instruments are prepared
in ' an electric steriliser -and all
equipment: used in the surgery,
bandages and pads are sterilised

linen used in the nursery Is ster

Epecial equipment includes five
incubators, an oxygen -tent, an ox
ygen box, ether vaporizer and
suction used is eye, -os and
threat surgery, resuscitator, two
bocture beds, a Klrschner appa
ratus, for straightening extremi
ties, Hawley table for body casts.
The staff - includes ; 3 4 graduate
nurses, two laboratory technicians.

by the American College of Sur
geons and the American Medical
society and must conform to cer-

them. A periodical inspection as

ards of cleanliness, ethics and ex
cellence of building and equip
ment.". 'Records must be carefully
