lowing an attaek of - eptic sore
throat He was born July 20,
1870, on the farm now occupied
by E. M. Maxwell. He bad benn
a prominent f a r m e r here 46
years.; He was united in marriage
to Miss Geneva La Fever Apr.i
50, 1893. - . '.
Surviving are his widow,' one
son, Urie, and one daughter, Mrs.
John Shelburne, all of Daton;
one brother, Lewis R. Alderman
of Chevy, Chase, Md.; one sister,
Mrs.i Ora Powell of Portland.

ville Methodist church, followed
by burial in . the: Masonic ceme
tery 'of Brownsville.
He was born in Scotland March
17, 1866, and came to America in
1879. He died February 28 at the
Lebanon General hospital. Death
was due to pneumonia.
Survivors include his widow
Mrs, Myrtle Sillers of Browns
ville; two sisters, Mrs. Euphemla
Berry, Scio; .Mrs. Mary L.- Lang
Lebanon; two brothers, Robert
and! Jack of Albany; one -niece.
Mrs. Percy Schrunk, Scio; three
nephews, George Berry, Albany;
Jack Berry, Florida and William
Lang Lebanon. . ,

Dies; Rites Today
WOODBURN Julian Genwood
Pelter, 60, died Tuesday night at
Salem.. He was born In Cbristian
bnrg, Virginia, in 1878. He bad
lived in Oregon since 1911.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs.
Nellie Wilson of Klngsburg, Tenn.,
and Mr. Venla Arthur of Wytho
vllle, Virginia. i '
Funeral services will be held
Friday, at 2 p. m. at the O'Hair
chapel, 'with, interment at Belle
Paasl cemetery. Rev. Van Winkle
of Hubbard will preach the ser-
