Scotts fllills People Hopeful as Portlanders Ask Road Extension SCOTTS MILLS The filing of a petition by Portland people with the county court for extension of the Crooked Finger road through to Elkhorn heartens the people of this vicinity. Scotts Mils residents feel that such a road would bring many people this way from Portland to the hot springs or on a scenic trip. The mines in that section may O- also come into activity again if the road is opened. The Ogle mountain mine is a proven mine, having produced more than a ing ore. It is still a good mine, but the ore is no longer free mill ing and must be smeltered. The OH Red Rock is another half million dollars in free mill- mine which has possibilities. It was abandoned 1 about 50 years ago because, while it had plenty of ore. It would only ran about 1 3 per ton. Three dollar ore (0 years ago is worth much more today with the Increase in the price of gold.
