Plan Benefit Program :
A program will be planned
later with a lunch : sold. The
proceeds will go toward : quip
ping the sewing room and finish
equipping the kitchen. The
school board has already nearly
equipped the kitchen and only a
few more pieces are needed.

the first meeting .of the autumn.
Mrs. Karl Harrltt, president,
presided when plans were dis
cussed for the winter activities.
Election will be next month.
Sixty persons attended rally
day at the Sunday school Sun
day when an all day meeting
was : held. Captain Hall - of Mc
Minnville spoke on the morning
program, his talk being supple
mented by numbers from each
Sunday school, class. A 1 o'clock
no-host dinner was a feature.
Dinner preceded a community
sing led by Captain Hall, special
vocal - solo by Myrtle Meier and
talk and lesson by Mrs. A. Reis
ner who has been conducting
Bible classes here Sunday nights.

Diamond Jubilee
Program Looming
DALLAS la , preparation ; for
the celebration of Us diamond
anniversary, to be observed Oc
tober 30. the Dallas Christian
church is now in a two weeks
evangelistic rail under the
leadership of Rev. Virgil F. Hal
big, pastor at Albany. Seventy
five years ago the organization
of the congregation was consum
mated, although the Disciples of
Christ had conducted services
seven years previously.
On the special day there will
be. in addition to the regular
Bible school and communion
worship, a basket dinner at
noon and service , at 2 p. m. At
this latter service Rev. KendaU
E. Burke, former pastor of the
church and now president of
Northwest Christian college at
Eugene, will be the speaker. Also
several neighboring pastors and
many former members will at
tend. The day will conclude with
evening evangelistic services and
Christian Endeavor.
In the rally- preceding the an
niversary Sunday, Rev. Mr. Hal
l ig has announced a number of
sermon themes as follows:
"Pentecostal Power, the Need of
the Hour," "Where the Devil
Makes His Home In Dallas,"
"The Passion of Christ." and
"The Unpardonable Sin." Rey.
O. D. Harris is present pastor of
the Dallas church. '

a dance and Halloween party
for October 26 at the Eugene
Field auditorium. Richard Pick

Oldest Auxiliary
Member Is Feted
SILVERTON Mrs. C. M.
Wray, chaplain of the American
Legion auxiliary was honored
Monday night for her 30th. birth
day anniversary October 23. Mrs.
Wray is thought to be the oldest
active auxiliary .member in the
state.
A large cake, bearing 80
lighted candles, was cut and
served by Mrs. Wray from a taper-lighted
table decorated with
autumn flowers. -; Mrs. Wray wae
also presented with a corsage
from the auxiliary by Mrs." Sam
Lorenzen, president.
A program honoring Mrs.
Wray Included vocal -numbers by
Mrs. Harry I. Riches; readings
by Fred Baker; Tiolin- solos by
Mrs. Irene Morley Franke. Mrs.
F.-.M. Powell, was chairman, ar
ranging the affair.
Plans were made for the rum
mage sale November, 5, with
Mrs. Ernest Starr general chair
man. The auxiliary also voted
$5 toward the Parent-Teachers'
association milk fund. Mrs.
Harry Wilson was made chair
man of the . annual Armistice
day dinner committee. Mrs.
Dewey Allen. : assisted by the
junior, auxiliary girls will be in
charge of the dining room.
