Mennonites Start
Evangelist Series
Revl J. J. Penner of Reedly,
Calif., will open a two weeks
evangelistic campaign at the Sa
lem Mennonite church, 17th and
Chemeketa streets, Sunday imorn-
ing at 11 o'clock. He will preach
nightly, except Saturday, at 7:30
o'clock.
Rev. Penner, a German by birth,
had to flee from Russia' during
persecutions there, and has been
In America since then except for
periods spent in the evangelistic
field in Germany.
"He ie an excellent speaker and
has some exceptionaly interesting
things to say of Russia," Rev. A.
P. Voth, local Mennonite pastor,

the mothers to see and hear ev
erything that Is taking place In
the public service. The room Is

The Sunday school Is equipped
with fire large assembly rooms
for departments and 32 class
rooms that are to bouse their fast
growing school that now numbers
532 with their goal set for 1000
The church has had a new coat of
paint and with the neon sign It is
unusually attractive. .
