Yet Issued
Two Groups Seek to Build
Show House in Area of
West Salem

C. Doan of Toledo 1 contemplat
ing a 125,000 theatre building In
West Salem, today brought to
light the fact that Salem money
is backing a theatre project also
designed for this city.
W. L. 'LaDue, building Inspec
tor here .said Thursday that no
permit had yet been Issued for a
'theatre to either party. Doan does
not yet have bis plans completed.
Ed Lewis, former Salem the
atre man, has asked for a permit
for construction of . a theatre, at
the corner of Kingwood and Sec
ond streets, near the ' railroad
tracks, but Inasmuch as this is in
a residential disti let, 10 days
mnst elapse in order to giro prop
erty owners a chance to protest,
if any. construction in such a dis
trict. This 10-day period will be
up next Monday.
Lewis, It is understood, will be
manager of the theatre, which
will be constructed by Roy" Sim
mons of Salem. If the. permit Is

in Oregon State Museum

late .William 'Bill' Hanley, "sage

Poultry Meetings

. The'tblrd annual Oregon Tur
key, Industry convention and. the
ISth annual Oregon Pool try men'
convention will be held this year
on successive days, September 1
and 2. It ! announced by H. E.
Cosby, bead of the poultry depart
ment at Oregon State college.
Both events will be held on the
campus.
Because some growers are In
terested In both chicken and tur
key production, and because com
mercial representatives desire to
attend both affairs. It was decid
ed to Join tbe two events.

soaring over Scio is the reported oddity of a yearling female
deer which was seen by several -farmers in the vicinity of
Thomas station a few miles west of Scio. 1 r
