GERVAIS Final examinations
were held at ; the high rchool
Tuesday and Wednesday. The
teachers are leaving during the
week for their homes In other
places and for their locatlcne for
next year. Principal Virgil Scott
moved his household goods to
. Salem Monday where he will re
side for the present. ' He has
been elected principal of tho Tur
ner high school. Mrs. Scott is
recovering slowly from opera-
. tions in a hospital there recently.

next year. Miss Dorothy Scbwab,
teacher in tbe lower grades lives
at Mt. . Angel and. drives over
every day. She has been elected
for next year.
Sisters Stay jtorijrer
The- Sisters of St. Mary will
remain there till about the mid
dle of the month before going to
Beaverton for the summer.
The high school picnic will be
held Friday, June 3, at Hazel
Green park.

when Henry Davenport, son of
Mr. and Mrs. John Davenport of
Silverton; and Eloise I bbert,
daughter; of Mr. and Mrs. E. M.
Ebbert of Monmouth, were unit
ed in marriage by the Rev Ella
Williams of the Methodist cLurch
at Stevenson. Ihe young peo
ple were accompanied by Mr. and
Mrs. Roy Clark (Edna Good
knecht). Following - the ceremonyMr.
and MrsJ Davenport visited with
Mr.'and Mrs. William Jones (Ali
da Berregard) at Odell, ard with
Louise Berregard at Hood, River.

Mr. Davenport is a graduate of
the Silverton high school and
later attended Pacific university.
He is now employed with a Mt.
Angel meat company.
Mrs. Davenport is a graduate
of Monmouth high school and
normal and is now a Junior at
the University of Oregon. J The
couple will set up housekeeping
July 1.

has arrived from Livingston,
Mont., to be with his mother, who
Is assisting with the care of her
father, Mr. Knight.
Miss Virginia Mason, teacher in
the Tillamook high school is
home for the summer vacation.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lane are
the parents of a 7-pound daughter
born to them May 31," at the home
of Mrs. Lane's grandparents, Mr.
and Mrs. J. M. Slyter, near Mar
Ion. The baby has been named
Annie Alice Lane.

James Pate, son of Mr. and Mrs.
James Pate, has finished a suc
cessful' year of teaching in the
Wheeler -high school, and has re
turned home. He has been rehired
for the next year.

ment. The condition of L. H.
Knight, who Is confined to his
bed with arthritis, remains about
the same. Mrs. Knight, who has
been ill, is Improved.
