White Logging company has the contract for the Willamette Valley Lumber company, of Dallas. The Whites have been handling logging operations for the Dallas concern for several years, recently coming from Grand Ronda. The White company will fell the timber in the national forest a few miles east of Scio. The company's contract specifies that it will deliver the logs at West Scio for shipment to Dallas, where the timber will be con- at 4 o'clock at the First Pres byterian church by the Albany college chorus. The chorus is being directed by Blanche Cohen of the college, with Esther Hare Furnas as violinist and Harry Johnson, accompanist. Mrs. Fur nas is a member of the Port land symphony orchestra and also of the McElroy ensemble of Portland. Soloists for the concert are Martha Bibb. DALLAS Holding its annual meeting for the election of i of ficers, the Polk County Dairy Herd association met here j re cently and discussed enlarging the association to make it a full time group. Up until now Yamhill - and Polk - county herd improvement associations 1 have been on a half-time basis. Both were - cooperating in employing one foil time tester. The Yam hill group had already decided to enlarge its association, there fore it will be necessary to em ploy a new tester for one of these counties. Plan Effective May 1 It was decided that a plan vould be made fw enlarging both county associations effec tive May 1. It was determined that sufficient herds to make about 12 days fall testing could be added to the presen group. Herds of over 20 cows or more are usually counted as a full day V testing work for one man and herds . of less than o may Join on a half-time basis mak ing it possible for a tester to work with two herds of this size in one day.- W. C. Leth, Polk county agent, explains that testers are ' hired on a full time basis und it is necessary to have a full time group only and that extra herds cannot be taken care cf by the association except In -ase of a shortage of members.
