nesday the Marion county depart
ment of health gave fluoroscope
tests to 30 youngsters who had
previously reacted positively to
tuberculin tests. On Thursday 41
positive reactors all from Parrish
luior high school were fluoro-

State Tuberculosis hospital. Fri

Started Here

A. Wesely Plaintiffs
in two Actions
Two damage actions growing
out of automobile collisions were
filed in circuit court yesterday
with 810.000 general damages
and special damages being asked
in each case.
N. A. Kimlinger, whose auto
mobile was involved with one
driven by George Yachter in a col
lision at Main and College streets,
Mt. Angel, last November 26, has
brought action against ' George
Vachter and Adam Vachter.-own-er
of vehicle. Kimlinger, who
seeks in two causes of action $250
special damages and 8400 dam
ages to his machine in addition to
the general damages, alleges that
he was unable, to work for six
weeks as the results of injuries
received.
Careless driving of Vachter and
failure to give right of way is giv
en by Kimlinger as a cause of ac
tion. He states that as a result
of the collision he received sever
al fractured ribs, arm lacerations
and head bruises.
Lizzy A. Wesely, who states
that on last December 3 she was
a guest passenger in a car struck
by one driven by John Meithof,
brings action against Meithof on
grounds of negligent driving.
The plaintiff, claiming general
damages of 810,000 and special
damages of $275.02, states that
she received a fractured skull and
numerous other injuries in the ac
cident, which occurred at 17th
and D streets in Salem.

March 30 as one of
Statewide Series
Problems facing cities of Ore
gon, many of which are becoming
more and more serious, will be
taken up at a series of regional
meetings to be sponsored by the
League of Oregon Cities, accord
ing to word received here from
Herman Kehrli, executive secre
tary of the group and-director of
the University of Oregon bureau
of municipal research.
Officials of Salem and other
cities in this area will attend the
meeting to be held here March
30.

Mayor V. E. Kuhn, Salem, presi

Traders Warned
Persons selling, trading or re
ceiving chattels mortgaged to the
farm security administration as
security for rehabilitation loans
are liable to court action by the
government if legal releases have
not been secured, according to a
notice received from the regional
attorney, reports T. R. Hobart,
county rehabilitation supervisor,
Salem.
Restrictions are placed on sale
or transfer of chattels mortgaged
to FSA not only to provide partial
security for rehabilitation loans
but to insure maintenance of suf
ficient operating goods to keep
the farm on a productive basis
and carry out farm plans, says Xh
notice.

Opposition to interference with
the right of any person to trans
port and market products of his
own land and labor as well as
opposition to legislation denying
labor the right of collective bar
gaining is contained in a state
ment issued by George R. Dun
can of Stayton yesterday as he
filed with the secretary of state
for state representative from
Marion county.
Duncan, Stayton attorney,
whose campaign for election to
the house of representatives two
years ago fell jdst short of the
mark, also pledged his 'support
to officials in the suppression of
acts of Tiolence and Intimidation,
and the prevention of the ex
ploitation of labor by unscrup
ulous persons.
Opposes Lotteries
Other points in his statement
included a stand against diversion
of highway funds and any modi
fication " of existing statutes
against lotteries and other gam
bling.
Duncan, a republican, ran high
in the primaries of two years
ago but was edged out in the
general election.

From Convention
Mr. and Mrs. Wally Walrath
have returned from attending the.
annual convention of the state
farm insurance companies at Chi
cago. Walrath is manager of the
local branch. He reports concen
sus of opinion of delegates at the
session was for favorable busi
ness outlook for 1938.
The Salem agency for Oregon
placed fourth among the 38 states
represented by the company for
business last year. Seven thou
sand agents represent the com
pany all over this country.
The Walraths made the trip
by rail, passing through 15 states
and Mexico, but said they were
