The ffroup voted to make the
same cash awards as In previous
years for the best posters in the
poppy poster contest now being
carried on In the Pallas schools.
Mrs. Roy Donahue has charge of
the contest.

was also voted that they would
award a medal, based on the
same points to the outstanding
eighth grade girl in the Pick
reall. Falls City and Perrydale

WOODBURN The annual din
ner L given by the Oregon state
training school for the Woodburn
fire ; department members, their
wives and friends was held Mon
day night at the training school.
This Is a yearly affair given by
the school to show their apprecia
tion for the protection given by
the- local fire laddies.

and Superintendent Sam Laugh

meeting. of the city council was
held at the city ball Tuesday
night.
Considerable discussion was
given to a request presented by
the Garden club relative to re
ducing water rates for sprinkling
during the summer months.
George Jones, James H. Livesay
and J. J. Hall were the committee
for the club. The council took
tbe matter under consideration
and a decision will be reached
at the next meeting.
An application to put in 2
inch water pipe ander the Paci
fic highway near the Allen gar
age for use by the residents of
the east side of the highway
was ordered signed and given
to the highway department.
O. F. Mulkey and Mike Koch
requested that the city clean
out the ditch between their prop
erty and Front street. The mat
ter will be looked after by the
street committee.
Peter Brachmann Vcs given a
60-day option at $250 on two
city lots at Seventh and Harrison
street for building purposes.
Plans are under way for the
purchase of another carload of
water pipe.
Ordinance No. 764, assessing
the abutting property for the
improvement of East Lincoln
street, was passed.
