There's never special season
for home made candies, especial

able to try occasionally. . -
My favorite for peanut, brittle
Is rather odd but one that makes
a delightfully crisp and crnnchy
candy. You can buy th glucose
at the larger grocery stores.
PEANUT BRITTLE
3 cups sugar,
1 cup glucose
cup butter
2V teaspoons soda
pound raw peanuts
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cups water
Stir sugar and water and glu
cose together oyer the fire until
the mixture boils.- Wash down
sides pf pan, steam syrup a few
minutes by putting on - a cover.
Then remove the lid and cook
to 275 degrees. or until it makes

In cold water. Rem ore thermom
eter, add peanuts and butter and
stir constantly until nuts are
roasted and the syrup is a gold
en brown. Remove from fire and
add the soda that has been dis
solved in a very little water and
stir well.- The mixture will foam
up: Pour on a greased slab or
tray and as soon as the candy
begins to set run a knife under
neath and turn it over. While
still hot, take hold 'of the edges
and stretch as thin as possible,
breaking off as you pull. Put
pieces on a greased platter. Pull
the edges first as they cool
quickest.
A two-syrup divinity Is another
glorified recipe for an old favor
ite. Try it some time, you'll have
a creamy, flavorful sweet, the
like pf which you never enjoyed
before. And secret use salted
almonds instead of regular nuts
for extra deliciousness.
TWO-SYRUP DIYIXITY
Boil together 1 cup sugar and
cup water until it spins a
thread, pour over stiffly beaten
whites of 3 eggs. In the mean
time, boil together 3 cups 3ugar,
1 cup corn syrup and M cup
water until it spins a thread
