Mrs, Frank Blair
Funeral Is Today
SILVERTON Mts. Frank R.
Blair, 54, former resident of Sfl
verton, died Sunday afternoon at
a Fortland hospital. Funeral
services will be held Tuesday at
2 p. m. at the Larson & Son
chapel here, with Rev. Frank
Zook officiating.
Roberta Smith, daughter of
John R. and Mary Birtchett
White, pioneers, was born at the
family home between Silverton
and Mt. Angel, July 8, 1883. In
December, 1905,- she was mar
ried at The Dalles to Frank R.
Blair. They started the Dela
catessen now known as Dicker
son's shop, and were in business
here for some years. They also
resided in Mt. Angel before go
ing to Portland bIx years ago.
- Surviving are the widower,
Frank of, Portland; one son,
Marion Dale Blair of Portland;
a granddaughter; three sisters
and three brothers, Lulu Riggs
of Corvalli8, Virginia Scheurer
of Redmond, Mrs. J. C. Schlador,
Silverton; G. G. White, V. J.
White and M. O. White, all of
Mt. Angel. "

Thursday. This was an all-day
session with club lunch at noon.
During the business meeting
election of officers resulted as
follows: Mrs. M. B. Lucas, re
elected president; Mrs. Allyn Nu
son, vice-president; Mrs. B. C.
Hall reelected secretary-treasurer.
The group will sponsor a
Christmas entertainment at the
hall Saturday night, December
18, with everyone invited, ad
mission to be a . gift not to ex
ceed 1 5 cents in price. These
gifts will be exchanged at the
program. Mrs. D. B. DuRette
will arrange for the program
which will include a play by
Fairfield school children, also
music and readings. Women are
asked to bring cakes. -
The next regular meeting of
the club will be an all-day ses
sion at the home of Mrs. W. E.
McGilchrist, January 6.' -

Has Appendectomy
MACLEAY Mrs. Dale Magee
is In the Salem General hospital
recovering from en appendicitis
operation. A brother-in-law, H.
Norton, husband of Emily Magee
Norton, is also convalescing from
a major operation performed re
cently in Washington.
Mrs. Hugh Magee, a trained
nurse and mother-in-law of Mr.
Norton, has been taking care of
him.

Two Cases Chickenpox

First, Hard Frost Hits
WEST STAYTON Pauline and
Aletha Stewart, the. 5 and 7-year-old
daughters of Mr. and Mrs. S.
L. Stewart, are confined to their
home here with chickenpox.
West Stayton folks were treat
ed to the first hard frost of the
fall In the early hours of Sunday
morning. No damage was done
to crops.
Hunters Kill Wildcats
Charged as Goatkillers

Mires and Walter Larson killed
two wild cats this past week at
the C V. Murray farm. The cats
had been killing goats on the Ken
neth Warnock farm for sime time.

two weeks visit in Nebraska. They
report conditions there the same

The women of St. Ann's Altar
society held an all day's sewing in
the parish hall Thursday. Quilt
ing was the main feature with a
covered dish dinner at noon.
P. J. Walton Files Suit
For Divorce in Polk Co.
DALLAS A suit for divorce
was filed here in the circuit court
by Percy J. Walton against Gert
rude R. Walton. The plaintiff
charges that the defendant de
serted him without cause in Feb
ruary, 1935.
They were married In Phila
delphia In 1913 and there are
two children. A property settle
ment Is attached to the suit and
an agreement also gives the de
fendant the care and custody of
the minor child.

all-day dairymen's meeting to be
held at the Mt. Angel Cooperative

all dairymen and farmers. The
meeting will start at 10:00 a.' m.
