In the period 1935-37 inclu
sive only 10,80 J acres of a total
of more than 27,000,000 acres in
side the forest boundaries suffer
ed from fires. Buck said.
The lowest previous loss was
27,104 acres burned in the 1933
35 period.
Buck attributed the Improve
ment to the CCC, increased fire
consciousness on the part of the
public and improved methods of
fire detection and suppression.
