' The Clarion made its first ap
pearance In the new high school
Wednesday and looked very at
tractive. J. C. Nelson, a favorite
with every student, has been ap
pointed registrar instead of head
ing -the history; department.
Decn Jewell of the University
of Oregon will be the main speak

formally dedicated September 30.

- AH students at Leslie have
been really working hard this
week, however they seem to en
joy it.
At an assembly Friday the new
ly elected officers of the Boys
league and Girls league were in
troduced to the school.
Monday those students who
wished to take band reported to
Gordon Finlay. Tuesday, those
interested in orchestra conferred
with him. Leslie Is looking for-
' ward to hearing some good con
certs this fall.
- Soccer was played for the first
time Tuesday, which resulted in
a few bruised ankles. That is al
ways expected In such a game.
Leslie has the- checked shirt
disease too. -
Favorite Studies
Of Members Vary!
Last Saturday the Mickey
Mouse reporters did .some quiz
ling of boys and girls as to their
favorite study, and here is the
result:
Douglas Yeater, 10 years old,
likes recess best because he can
play, while Faye Herbert, who
goes to Parrish, likes gym as It
doesn't take any concentration.
Dell McManus who attends En-
glewood figures he gets the most
enjoyment out of reading, "be
cause you can learn more."
Gee whiz, here Is a boy who
likes arithmetic. His name is
George Manning ten years old,
because he asserts It passes
time away.
"Reason that I like Latin so
Well, Is that the teacher takes
up most; of the time talking,"
boasted Orville Mull, who is a
Leslie attender.
Here Is a gripping scene from the Mickey Moose featnre "Bad Guy,"
starring Edwin X orris, Virginia Grey and Bruce Cabot. Bruce is the
fellow who saves human lives in an airplane wreckage and becomes
a national hero. The other attraction is "Broadway Melody," with
Robert Taylor and Eleanor Powell.

' "Here we have finished our
second week of school at Par
rf and every one is apparently
settling down after the excite
ment of the first few days. Work
Is being organized and pupils
are- finding plenty to do during
Uieir study hall period.
Mrs. O'Neil has been substi
.uting for Miss White in her
. gymnasium classes while the lat
r has been away. Mrs. O'Neil
ilong with the former Misses
Clark and yan Winkle will not
teach this year, but will enjoy
a much needed rest. Miss Lola
Millard is on a leave of absence
and ; Miss Humphrey is 111 at
present.
sWe were sorry to lose Mr.
Bullard and Miss Boentji, who
are going to teach. In senior
high. All are happy to see Mrs.
Mckinley, Mrs. Beaver and Miss
Fellows back, after their leave
of, absence.
To the , new teachers, Mrs
Berg, Miss" Brovro and Miss Nep
tmnewe extend a hearty wel

Joy Parrish as much as we do.
The latest fad at Parrish
right now seems to bs plaid
shirts. Girls as well as boys
come to school all decked out
in bright red and green plaids
which indeed look classy

Club Notes
Hi ho everybody, this is
"Freshie" Joe College in person
writing you the latest Mickey
Mouse doings. Gee, it surely was
swell to see everyone at the show
last Saturday, the theatre was
just a buzz continually of boys
and girls telling of their vacation
experiences.

Our first joke today goes some
thing like this:
Boxing instructor (after first
lesson) "Now, have you any
questions to ask?" t
Beginner (dazed) "Yes, how
much is your correspondence
course?"
M M C
Many old favorite performers
are going to be back on the stage
doing their best for you mice. If
you have any talent at all coma
down to rehearsal Saturday at
10:30. .
M M C
Have you Mice been following
Mickey Mouse in The Statesman
every day? If you are, do yon .
think Mickey will get in trouble
by taking control of the kingdom
that the diplomats have arranged
for him? Write me your side of
the story.

Yesterday I visited the new
high school. and really it is one
keen building compared to the
other one. At least a student can
study and not hear his brain
rumbling down the halls.
M M C ,
Ralph Curtis .news editor of
this paper wants to get' some
sleep and therefore urges that I
hurry with my column as It is
12:30 a.m.

About Stamps
By DORIS HAROLD.
Hello, Fellow Collectors:
It has lately been proven that
even a stamp can cause a lot of
trouble. . A late Nicaraguan air
mail stamp bearing a map showed
Nicaragua as covering part of
Honduras. Both countries fear
that the Quarrel will create a
crisis if it is not settled soon.
Although they have not yet
been issued, Russia has stated
that she intends to commemorate
the soviet; flight over the north
pole by a set of four stamps.
One of the late popular books
concerns a stamp. Its title is "The
'Antigua Stamp" and is by Robeit
Graves. It is fiction and most
people find it quite amusing. Any
of you collectors can procure it
at the public library.
