The exhibit begins to take form. Sides of the units are hinged at
the top, so that when they are raised peaked roofs are formed. Inner
hinged panels lower to form a floor. The operation takes six hours.
Panels placed at front and rear protect the interior from the
weather. When that is done and steps are placed at the entrance and
exit, the trucks have been transformed into showhonses. Step in.

New Courthouse Proposal
Sweeps to Victory in
Bitter Election
ALBANY During the past
several weeks, neighbors and
friends in Linn county have
greeted each other, : when they
met, not with the usual, "how
are you?" or- how are your i
crops?" but "how do you standi
on the courthouse question?" or
"do you think the county will !
erect a new courthouse?" But
Tuesday the question one heard
most frequently was "how does
the official count on the court
house' stand?" For Linn county
voters turned out to voteLst the
special election called to decide
' if the $154,000 . surplus fund
of the County treasury were to'
be used toward the erection of a
new courthouse, or to remain to
be assimilated into - other funds.
The people wanted the court
house and the measure carried
' by 996 votes. In favor of the
-project 3,965 votes were cast
while 2,969 people in the county
voted no.
' Lebanon led in the . fight
' against, the using fit the surplus
funds, with practically all the
towns in that vicinity siding in.
At times the fight between the
proponents for the new court
house and those against it has
waxed strong and bitter words
were said by each side. The
main Issue as far as. Lebanon
was concerned, was apparently
in the belief that if the, present
building- plan could be staved
off, a gift from the federal gov
ernment which is needed to. aid
in the building program, would
not be forthcoming later on, and
in that case Lebanon could at
t.Tnot to have the county seat
changed from Albany to that city.
Of the 54 precincts in the
county, 31 were -against the
building program and 23 for it.
Included in the 23 were the nine
Albany precincts, and- Sunrise,
adjacent to Albany; Calanooia.
North and South Harrisburg,
' Knox Butte, Mill City, Orleans,
Peoria, Price, Rock Creek. San
tlam, Shedd, Syracuse and Tan-
. gent.
In the three Lebanon precincts
44 voted yes to 772 against the
Clan, while In the nine Albany
precincts. 77 voted" no to 2,290
who voted yes. The four Browns
ville precincts voted almost two
to one against the measure. Hal
sey was another town . which
voted -the question" down, with
SO votes for to 93 against. The
proposal is said . to have origin
ated la Halsey to use the surplus
funds for this purpose, a prom
inent resident of that city being
one of the first to make the
pronositlon.
Crowfoot, the home precinct
of Senator Cortis D. Stringer,
was solidly against the building
plan, only two votes ' bein? cast
In favor to 90 alnst. A few
days ago Senator Stringer an
nounced that he was not taking
side tn the plan but was re
. mr'nlng neutral. -

tion by precincts follows:
