GERVAIS J. B. Brown has
lust sold his crop of Rye peas to
the Barner warehouse. He had
five acres and threshed 1,000
pounds to the acre for which he
received 75c per Pound. The seed
tested .9 ft per cent. .

First Reunion Is
Event of Sunday
Descendants of Mrs. Emma
Anderson Gather at
Helmick Park .
SUVER Helmick park was the
scene of a first family reunion
Sunday, of relatives and descend
ents of Mrs. Emma Anderson of
Buena Vista who gathered to hon
or her on her 80th birthday.
A. .potluck dinner was aerved
at 1 o'clock. Several family group
pictures were taken, Including the
grandmother with her children,
grandchildren and great-grandchildren

All of her surviving children
were present, Mrs. Tressa Conger
and Mrs. Florence Gobat of Surer-Mrs.
Mollie Baldwin of Win-
lock, Wash.; Mrs. Addie Harmon,
Ed Prather and Nelson Anderson
of Buena Vista.
Grandchildren Present were;
Mrs. Eva Prouty of Wlnlock;
Mrs. Emma Benedict and Florence
Conger of Suver, Mrs. Addie Mill
er of Toledo, Mrs. Blanche Rust.
Leland Prather, Gail Prather of
Buena Vista and Mrs. Doris Eck-
man, Portland.
Great grandchildren were Joan
and Melvln Prouty and Jerry
Baldwin of Wlnlock, Wash., Linda
Benedict of Suver, Farrel Rust,
Alice, Billy and Elmo Prather of
Buena Vista.
A brother, Monroe Kreutz, of
Silverton and his three daughters
Mrs. Paul Johnson of Silverton
and Edna and Verle Kruetx of
Salem were present.
A nephews .Frank Kreuti and
wife of La Grande were present.
A great number of relatives by
marriage and . friends also attended.
Mrs. Anderson came to Oregon
from Iowa when she was six years
old and has lived here ever since.
She has lived at Buena Vista for
over fifty years.
Scio Residents
View Bonneville
SCIO Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lytle
spent Sunday on the Mt. Hood
loop with Mr. and Mrs. W. L.
Lewis of Salem, former Wyom
ing friends of the Lytles. The
Bonneville dam was visited on
the return trip.
Miss Dorothy Clausen of Or
chards, Wash., has been tender
ed a position as high school in
structor at Scio. Miss Velorls
Crenshaw, who ... had contracted
to teach in the primary depart
ment, has resigned to accept a
position elsewhere.
Mrs. Marie Walter of near
Scio is said to be In a satisfac
tory condition - following major
surgery at a Portland hospital. -i-
Clyde Urban of Scio, injured
while working in the timber east
of Scio, is expected to be able
to return to his job soon
, Raleigh Harold, native farm
er of Scio route 2, has decided
to retire for a time for the bene
fit of his health, planning to
go to Washington. He will sell
or lease his 100-acre farm
Tragedy's Victim
Rests at Aurora
AURORA The body of Mrs.
Susanna Flannigan, fatally burn
ed in a gasoline explosion in a
closed car here Tuesday night,
rests - at ' the Miller mortuary
waiting word from a sister in
Indiana. -..
Mrs. Flannigan and her hus
band, Mike Flannigan, were em
ployed at the Paul Singer hop
yard where they arrived last
Sunday. The .' couple had Tun
out of gasoline in their car out
side Aurora and had walked in
to get a supply. H. R. New In
vited them to ride back in his
car and Mrs. ' Flannigan had
just entered the new machine
with an open can of gasoline
when the car. was turned into
an inferno by a cigaret lighted
nearby.
It became impossible to reach
the victim, although one by
stander did reach her hand she
pulled it away in her struggles.
Dirt was thrown on the fire to
smother It but the tragedy had
occurred. Mr. Flannigan was
nnharmed as was Bob New.' who
was also in the car behind the
wheel.
The Aurora fire department
was called to Donald Wednes
day at 11 o'clock a. m. to quell
a fire in the barn of B. F. Ri
card. They arrived in time to
save the contents and .to .keep
the barn from, being totally; de
stroyed. This was the - third
fire in Donald In the past few
weeks.
