zer, 81. a resident of Oregon for
the past 24 years, -died In Salem
July r, the result of" infirmities
incident to old age. Funeral ser
vices will be held from the Crab-
tree church at 1:30 Wednesday
afternoon. Rev. P. V. Fendall of
Crawfordsville will have charge
of the I services. Burial will be in
Belcrest Memorial park, Salem.
The Fisher funeral directors of
Albany have charge of the ar
rangements. Peter Betzer was born in Linn
county, Iowa. August 12. IS 5 5.
In 19 IS he came to Oregon from
Iowa and located on a farm in the
Crabtree community. In 1928 he

Mr. Betzer married Effie Rum-
baugh In Iowa, February 18, 1878,
She died in April, 1911. and in
19 12 Mr. Betzer married Era
Gater in Chicago. The second
Mrs. Betzer died In November;
1932. Mr. Betzer was a member
of the Wesleyan Methodist church
in Iowa. j
Surviving are the following
children: Rev. Frank Betzer of
Lebanon, Mrs. Bertha Ellis of
University Park, Iowa, Ray Bet
ser of Salem, Ralph Betzer of
Hamilton Field, Calif., and Lyle
Betzer of Lebanon. One sister,

noon for Florence Marie Snod
grass, 26, who died at the open
air sanitarium near Salem Jane
29. She was the daughter of
John R. Snodgrasa of Amity and
made her home here for a num
ber of years. She was a grad
uate of the Amity high school.
Surviving are her father, her
stepfather, a sister. Miss Effie
Countryman of Milwaukie, Ore.;

Emma Kramer, long time resi
dent of Monmouth, has sold her
home to Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Hal-
bert, newcomers from : Kansas.
She will give possession on or -before
August 1. It was a cash
sale. The property consists of
one-half acre . of land and a 7
room house.
Miss' Kramer formerly taught
in the Salem schools for 20
years. She does not Intend to

tember 1. Mrs. McBee is a sun
ervisor in the training schools.

mall carrier, plans to build a
new home in town.
Archie Parker who for the
past year has been living in En-
gene with his son-in-law and
daughter, Dr. and Mrs. Victor P.
Morris, has returned to Mon
mouth, and is making Jifs home
with Mr. and Mrs. Chris Nelson.
Electric Fence Tried

HAZEL GREEN. July 5. An
electric fence installed by Allen
and Glen Looney is affording
much interest and some amuse
ment for the district. The fence
has proven satisfactory.
The cost of operating is not to
exceed 10 cents a month. Two
barb aires are sufficient for
cows, horses and hogs.
