Divorce to Claim
Hungary's Throne
BUDAPEST, June 3-(P)-An
ancient royal court today smooth
ed the way for the Hapsburg
Archduke Albrecht to press his
claims to the vacant Hungarian
throne without the encumbrance
of a commoner wife: -
The court, revived from pre
war practices by Regent. Nicolas
Horthy. granted the archduke a
civil divorce from his wealthy
beautiful wi. Irene Lelbach.
whom - he rtarried secretly in
England in 1930.
Called "Europe's most difficult
divorce case," Albrecht and his
wire had sought legal separation
for several years but ordinary
courts were considered without
Jurisdiction because of the arch
duke's exalted status.
The divorce was only civil an J
the attitude o? the Catholic
church, which granted a special
dispensation recognizing the mar
riage three years after it wasTer
formed, remained uncertain.
Current controversy over the su
preme court : revision issue was
given; a new angle when Justice
Willis Van Devanter, 78. submit
ted his resignation, effective June
2, ending 26 years of service on

Ruthanna McKracken of Scotts
Mills was given at the home of
the Misses Mary and Elizabeth
Sutten at Newberg Friday. Miss
McKracken. who is to be a June
bride, lis a graduate of the local
high school and of Pacific college
In Newberg. She has been in
training at the Good Samaritan
hospital in Portland the last year.
Miss Phyllis Macy, who has
been attending Willamette, has
obtained a position as office help
er in the Salem general hospital
for the summer.
