Scheme For IQjid
Exchange Offered
Suggestion that the state land
board appoint a committee of
nine . members to select public
domain lands in exchange for
state-owned lands under the Tay
lor grazing law, waa . made by
State Treasurer . Holm an yester
day. ' Each, member of the land board
would select three members of
the commission. The commission
would receive ' only actual ex
penses.' H o 1 m a n recommended
that bids for lease of school lands
within the six Oregon grazing
districts, organised under the
Taylor grazing law, be opened
March 12 of this year and not
later than March 1. 1938.
Leases would cover a period
of one year and would be subject
to the rules of the state land
board.
The state would -retain the
right to sell or Mock any ot its
lands at any time during the life
of the lease, change of ownership
or control to take effect at the
end of the grazing season.

Helps Save Child
To Ellery Simonson should go
a large portion of the credit for
saving: the life of the small son
of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd L. Forette,
1940 West Nob Hill, as related
in Wednesday's Statesman. The
child fell In the fish pond in the
Benson home and nearly drowned.
It was Simonson, according to the
later report, who first worked on
the child, and helped save the
spark ot life in the interval be
fore the arrival of the firemen
with pulmotor.
Simonson had not. been em
ployed but was engaged on
temporary job at the Milton
Josephsoa home nearby, when he
saw the disturbance and went to
the rescue.
