JEFFERSON, Aug. 20. Mrs.
Sherman Koker la enjoying a visit
with her sister, Mrs. S. G. Dyer,
of Alameda, Calif. The two sisters
motored to Seattle last; week., to

The young people of the Evan
gelical and Methodist t churches
will enjoy a marshmallow roast
at Thomas creek Friday night. A
vesper service will be held around
the bonfire, with games and swim
ming as added attractions. . , -
Work on the local WPA. project
is progressing nicely. Workmen
have finished laying! the v new
water mains on Third street, and
are now : working along Second
street on the Pacific highway. The
reservoir has been relined and Is
ready, for the roof to be put on.

Vacation Bible School
DAYTON. Aug. 20. The at
tendance was good at the achieve
ment services held at the Meth
odist church Sunday evening un
der the direction of the, 40 Day
ton boys and girls who .attended
the two week bible school, which
closed last Friday.
The boys' manual training class
displayed book cases, magazine
racks, bookends and many mis
cellaneous articles and the girls'
sewing class had a large assort
ment of work, auch as Christian
flags and paper cuttings.

who was thrown from a horse
and suffered a fractured pelvis
and was admitted to, the Lebanon
general hospital Monday is re
ported (o be doing as well-as can
be expected.
The son of Arch Miller, Crab
tree, was thrown from his horse
the same day and suffered a frac
tured arm. Robert D. Beyer Craw,

The Independence Dairy Products
company are remodeling the old
creamery building. Besides remod
eling, plans call for 250 new lock
ers, a new root and a new Mahap
room.". About 15.000 will be ex
pended n the project. The office
will be moved to the south front
of the building, - and : the north
side wlll.be refrigeration room;.;.

( LEBANON Aug. 20 Work was
resumed yesterday on construc
tion of the South Santiam high
way. The work was suspended
three weeks because of temporary
lack of funds. Suspended work on
the North Santiam will not be re
sumed at present.

starts at the Miles Branch hop
