classification of orchards; ; the
other involves the inclusion of
perennial noxious weed control In

gram according to their (classifica
tion either a3 soil conserving, soil

only orchards planted since 1930

Langley Is Fined,
Reckless Driving
Charge Is Denied by Cun
ningham and Trial Is
Set May 25
WOODBURN, May 20. The
following cases appeared in Jus
tice Overton s court recently:
Guy Frederick Langley, of SU
verton. pleaded guilty to the
charge of reckless driving and
was fined $25 and costs of $2.50.
John Stevens Cunningham of Sa
lem, also charged with reckless
driving, pleaded not guilty and his
case has been set for trial May 25,
at 10 a. m.
Perry Owens, 71, was fined $25
after pleading guilty to the charge
of fishing in Scookum lake with
out a fishing license. His sentence
was suspended when Judge Over
ton learned that he was out of em
ployment and had been taken off
tne relief rolls due to his ad
vanced age. He paid the costs of
$2.50.
John Elmer Bush was fined $5
and costs on a charge of driving
with four persons In the driver's
seat of his car.
Sentence Suspended
Harold McFarland, arrested in
Gervais for being intoxicated,
pleaded guilty to the charge and
was fined $10 and costs and given
50 days in the county jail. The!
jail sentence was suspended on
condition that the fine and costs
be paid and that he keep sober
for a year. Arnold David Halter,
paid a fine of $5 and $2.50 costs
after pleading guilty to the

around 200,000 pounds at Pen
dleton, the largest clip produced
in Oregon, and the Ben Taylor
clip of around 100,000 pounds at
Condon.
While figures on the Smythe
clip were not made public, trad
ers figured it was around 20
cents a pound with shrinkage of
perhaps 74 per cent, compared
with the general offerings of
around 23 to 25 cents for other
eastern Oregon wools with normal
shrinkage of around 67 per cent.
Movement of wool was on the
increase.
