The Happiest Record o
NEWSPAPERS record through the swift passage of the years
all manner of events. They tell of births, of marriages, of
deaths the bright events and the tragedies of the days.
No recounting of the record is so pleasant as the presen
tation to Statesman readers of bright faces, of the cute poses
and of the irresistible charm of little boys and girls.
They come on, these happy new members of our commun
ity, with a vigor and chee-r, which sweeps out gray thoughts that
the times are evil. The miracle of life is in these youngsters;
the ear
they reveal each passing year that life is good, that smiles
abound, that life revives from its own strength and will con
tinue. In this 5th annual edition of The Statesman, photographic
work has been excellently done by the Jesten-Miller studio which
has gathered photographs from babies from Salem and all of the
area tributary to it. Extra copies of the edition are available at
The Statesman office.
