RESERVOIR CONSTRUCTION
AXD PIPE LINE MATERIALS
SALEM, OREGON
Sealed proposals will bff re
ceived at the office of the City
Recorder, Salem, Oregon, np to
7:30 o'clock, P. M., of Friday,
May 1st, 1936, for furnishing la
bor, materials, tools and equip
ment for construction of a 10
million gallon capacity reinforced
concrete reservoir and for the fur
nishing of certain pipe and pipe
line materials. Bids will be open
ed In public at the time stated
but no award of contracts will be
made prior to the regular meeting
of the City Council on May 4,
1936.
Separate bids will be entertain
ed, as follows:
1. For reservoir construction
complete, exclusive of rough ex
cavation and the furnishing of
certain pipe and pipe line mater
ials. The principal items of the
work are, approximately. S500 cu.
yards of concrete and 250 tons of
reinforcing steel.
2. For cast iron and standard
steel pipe, pipe fittings and valves
within and about the reservoir
and for connections to the water
distribution system.
Bids for reservoir construction
will be considered only If submit
ted by a bidder who has previous
ly signified his desire to bid by
filing a request to that effect on

submit bona fide bids for any part
of such materials.

by cash or certified check payable

equal to Five (5) per cent of

reject any or all bids and to waive

Lloyd Girod, principal at the
Gates school, was elected hy the
school board to fill the vacancy
in the Aurora school upon the
resignation of G. J. Church who
will teach in Portland next year.
The present teachers who were re
elected are Mrs. Willard Hunt,
fifth and sixth grades: Miss Ma
bel Straw, third and fourth and
Miss Mildred Lee. first and sec

The business men at a meeting
Thursday night voted to again
sponsor the series of free talking
pictures during the , summer
months. This entertainment was
sponsored and paid for by the
business men here with the ob
ject of making more people ac
quainted with the stores, shops
and Aurora in general and last
summer they were a great suc
cess. As before the shows will
be on Saturday nights, the date
of the fiftt one to be announced

Mrs. A. H. Bradford, who are
successful in handling -several
hundred laying hens, are adding
a modern two-story building with
1200 hen capacity. They live
throe miles southeast of Turner.
The Three Link club met all
day Friday at the I.O.O.F. hall
for dinner and a social time,
Plans were made for the obser
vance of their 20th anniversary
to be held some time In May.
