swiftly today from a recent al
most perpendicular rise of about
11 cents a bushel, wheat fell 3V
cents, but later recovered some
what. Suggestions were current that a
change of weather in drought dis
tricts might easily take place, and
that liberal imports of wheat into
this country from Canada were
again possible.
Faced also by a pronounced
sudden lull both in speculative and
commercial demand, wheat prices
gave way rapidly after flurried
selling started because of un
founded rumors of an inch of rain
at one point in Kansas.

Church to Build
Modern Bungalow
SILVERTON, April 20 Mem
bers of the . Calrary Lutheran
church board are making plans
for a modern 5-room bungalow to
be built on the site of the former
Ebeneier Lutheran Free church
on Jersey street.
TheCalyary church acquired
the Ebeneier property when the
two congregations united.

Mayer lodge. No. 108. A. F. & A.
M., of Dayton, entertained their
wives and the Eastern Star mem
bers and their husbands who are
not Masons at the Masonic tem
ple Thursday night with 50 peo
ple attending. A 7 o'clock dinner
was served. Fred Matches, wor
shipful master, was toastmaster.
Mrs. W. S. U'Ren, worthy matron
of the Star, responded.
The dining room -was beauti
ful in green and white flowers.
Japanese quince was used In the
reception room where a group of
Linfield college dramatic class
students presented a full evening
of entertainment Including a play,
songs, vocal and instrumental so

250 and 300 people were in Al
bany today in attendance at the
district fellowship meeting of tho
Pentecostal Assemblies from Roso
burg to Salem and from the valley
to the coast. Meetings were held
at 2:30 p. m. and 7:30 p. m. In
the United Presbyterian church.

green school placed fourth in the
county 4-H health contest at Sa
ltm Friday. He was returned for
a second examination and finished
with a score of .993. Six points
were lost owing to a loose baby
tooth.
Mrs. H. H. Paget took her three

school. Phyllis Jean Haberly, De
lora Doerfler and George Haberly
to Salem Friday to visit the linen
mills.
Mrs. Robert M. Morton was call
ed to San Francisco Friday due to
the illness of her sister-in-law.
Suffers Light Stroke
Roy Herrick. youngest brother
of Roe Herrick suffered a slight
stroke and Is being cared for at
the Walter Von Flue home where
he has been employed for years.
Alfred Von Flue. 15; son of Mr.
and' Mrs. Walter Vori Flue Is still
running a temperature. He had an
attack of flu ear rev In March and
over; exertion brought on a re
lapse and an abscess formed on
his lung.
Ernest Harmon, who is 111 with
pneumonia is much improved. His
fever broke Friday and he began
to show improvement.
Next Meeting Last
The smallest crowd of the year
attended the Happy Hoar club
of the Evergreen school Friday
night. Mrs. Fred Knight and Jack
Tabert directed program numbers
by Norma Flnlay. Doris Nalley,
E. B. Knapp and Hal Campbell.
The next meeting' will be the
closing day picnic about May 21.
