dale Friends church has Just fin
ished a successful year using the
"Master Sunday School Plan."
During that time the enrollment
has mors than' doubled, and new
members are joining the school
almost every Sunday.

church. This service is free to the

Honor Eugene Roy
On 83d Birthday
STAYTON. April IS One of
Stayton's most highly respected
eltixens, Eugene Roy, has lust
celebrated his 83 rd birthday and
in honor of the occasion all of Mr.
Roy's children with the exception
of Ben Roy, of New Tork City,
were present for a birthday din
ner. Those present vere Dr. and
Mrs. O. C. Watson and children,
of Vancouver, B. C; Mr. and Mrs.
Albert Roy, Mr. and Mrs. Leigh
ton Roy and Raymond Roy, Mr.
and Mrs. William Smith, son and
daughter, all ot Portland. Mrs.
Forreats Mack, Austin, Forbes,
Marlorie, Jeanette and Buddy
Mack, all of Salem, and Mr. and
Mrs. C. E. Taylor and son, Stay
lon. Eugene Roy and vita arrived
in tha United States from Trance
in 189 C. coming directly to Sa
lem, where they lived for about
18 months, when they moved to
Stayton. Roy entered the jewelry
business here and later added an
optical department which he eon
ducted until his health would no
longer permit. Mrs. Roy died
about tire years ago.
The Roys hare always taken an
active part In work ot the Baptist
church and several of it's mem
bers also called to pay Mr. Roy
tribute on his birthday.

school in Portland. Norman is
making his home with Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Tabert.
Mrs. K. O. Rue, who has bees
suffering from infection in her
right thumb, caused by a sliver,
under the nail. Is yet under the
care of her doctor. Wednesday he
removed the thumb nail and hopes
he has checked the trouble. A sac
of pas had formed under the nail
and could not be reached.

to be held in Stayton, April 20,
where Marilyn chapter will put
on the initiatory work.

Games, Jefferson
JEFFERSON. April C. The
city council met in regular ses
sion Monday night. Besides ord
ering bills paid, building permits
were granted to Jack Tyson for
making alterations in his confec
tionery building; to Mr. and Mrs.
Guy Roland to build a ehieken
house on their property on East
Church street; and to Rose Green
to build a barn and also a garage
on her property at the foot ot
Ferry street.
An ordinance regulating gam
ing tables and tlving license tees
was passed. Wednesday, April
22, was designated as eleaaup
day for Jefferson.
