market prices were tumbled about
today, by the backlash of a -ware
of foreign uneasiness over the
value of the dollar.
The damage was not severe
and a number of issues counter

scouted a rumor that further de

Lambs and Wool
To Continue High
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho, Jan. 9.
(j)Continued high prices for
lambs and wool were predated
today by F. R. Marshall, secretary
of the National W ool Growers as
sociation. Speaking at their annual con
vention, he warned Idaho wool
growers of uncertainties faced by
the industry, centering in the gov
ernment's tariff and public land
policies i ,
While Boston wool prices do
nt include the full amount of the
duty, "he said, "they do reTlect
morp of the tariff protection ilian
the grower actually has received
ia several years."
With the 1935 lamb crop re
ported 7 per cent below the orev
lous year and the number of
Iambs slauf hrered about S' per
eent greater, he forecast a short
age in shipments and, increased
prices.

CHICAGO. Jan. 9.-(cP)-Stop-loss
selling on the part of hold
ers of May delivery contract,
gave a downward swing to all
wheat values today.
Predictions were current that
the United States would ave a
more liberal carry-over of bread
stuff supplies July 1 than ha
been generally expected of late,
and this did a good, deal lo tum
ble May Quotations. A result was
to reduce the price spread be
tween May and July wheat, cut
ting the difference to about 12
cents as against 13 Vi cents yes
terday. Wheat closed unsettled aV near
ly the day's bottom level,
under yesterday's finish. May,
$1.01 corn down.
May 60-61c; oats also -c
off, and provisions showing 10 to
27 cents drop.
Corn and oats were beartehly
affected by larger arivals of com.
Provisions lacked support.

Old Cows Higher
PORTLAND. Jan. J.D-Cut-tlng
of c lb. off the price on
first grade or in reality last grade
butter in the cube trade on the
Portland produce exchange for
the late session, gave the trade a
suggestion of increased weakness
in the market.
There was no change in the
price of butterfat,
Market for eggs ruled weak. On
the exchange the only change was
a loss of le on large standards
but on the open market there was
a wide spread of values asked. Re
ceipts continued to gain.
Prices were firm in the chicken
market with demand far in excess
of current offerings. Trade lead
era report that the call for sup
plies for immediate consumption
is unusually liberal.
Market for blocker hogs (120
150 lbs.) was showing a firmer
tone. Sales were being made
around 14c lb.
Calves were fullr steady for the
hetter trrarle but heavyweights
were accumulating and the price
is a trifle off at 8c generally.
Lambs Are Higher
There was a further advance in
the price on country killed lambs.
Sales were being made 17-18c lb.
for tops. Ewe offerings continued
firm up to a dime.
Good cutter cows were moving
around 7-8c lb. with canners
around G-7c and a firm call at
that. Bulls were steady at 8-8 Vic
lb.
- Popcorn is 50c sack higher
around $8.25 for Idaho Jap hull
ess. Celery was firmly priced and
high in the south with Chula Vis
ta shipments small.
Imperial lettuce was unusually
cheap, with sales as low as $2.
