Fingers Burned
When Gun Fires
The "cops" may laugh at pock

If the gun that went oft In Po
liceman Charles A. Kuykendall's

finger or two now instead of
merely have the digits slightly
injured.
A derringer revolver, best pock

while Kuykendall was cleaning it
but the bullet, he says, did little
but "burn" th- sides of two fin
gers. The weapon formerly belonged
to Patrolman "Cherry" James,
who disappeared while on a hunt
ing trip In the mountains near
Roseburg in the fall of 1980. No
trace of "Cherry" was ever found.
