Cancel or Remit
Taxes is Ruling
Sheriffs have no authority to
cancel or remit taxes- charged
against real property, but must
collect such taxes as are provided
by law. the attorney general held
yesterday in an opinion requested
by District Attorney William H,
Trindle of this county. The opin
ion was asked In connection with
the foreclosure proceedings re
cently instituted by the sheriffs
office here.
The attorney genera yesterday
ruled that the state board of bar
ber examiners has authority to
issue temporary permits to bar
