Branche, daughter of - .Mr. and
Mrs. A. E. La Branche, in mar
riage with" Edmond Talbot, son
- of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Talbot, Sat
urday morning at the SL Joseph's
Catholic chnrch. Rev. Robert Neu
gebauer officiating. The wedding
march was played by Alena Brem
mer. The St. Mary's academy,, choir
sang softly during the ceremony.
Leona LaBranche. a sister of
the bride, was bridesmaid and
Gertrude Kahut, maid of honor.
Little Beverly Karsten..a cousin,
was flower- girl. Louie Salts was
best man. Donald LaBranche, a
brother and Bennie Keiber acted
as altar boys, while Kenneth La
Branche, a brother of the bride
and Doyle Talbot, a brother of the
groom were ushers.
The petite blonde bride was
beautiful in a tip toe length dress
of white organza made with a full
flare skirt, long sleeves with rows
- of pin pleated folds from the el
bow to the wrist and a square
neck with, pleated collar. She car-
. ried a bouquet of pink rose buds
and white sweet-peas.
NAfter the ceremony a wedding
bn&kfast was served at the home
of the bride's parents for close
relatives. Anthlea Elstrom and
Mrs. W. Miller assisted Mrs. La
Branche.
Mrs. Talbot attended St. Mary's
academy,, is a graduate of Salem
nigh Bchool and is prominent in
Marion county musical circles.
Mr. Talbot is a graduate of Grand
Ronde high school.
After a wedding trip, the yonng
couple will reside here in their
home recently completed.

was held Saturday night at the

spent several days last weekend
at Florence visiting with Mrs.
Ella Herron. They attended the

showers delayed the hay making
here. Cutting the first crop of
alfalfa was in progress last week.

PRESENT CONCERT
SILVERTON, June S. The Sll
verton junior band will appear in
concert Wednesday night at the
armory in a special benefit pro
gram. J. C. Hassenstab will di
rect. Specialty numbers will be solos,
duets, tap dancing and songs. Aft
er the program a dance will be
held featuring both old-time and
modern music.
The band, which was organ
ized March 1, 193 4, with 18 char
ter members now has 4 2. Wed
nesday night they will appear in
their new uniforms of grey trous
ers, red capes and overseas caps.
The band committee consists of
E. J. Boesch, John Seeley, Bert
Swanson.
Among the special numbers
are:
Songs, Martin Warvick and
Myron Dirickson: trumpet quar
tet, Tom Williams, Maurice Sta
nley, Richard Nelson and Donald
Renwick; trombone duet, Myron

The W. F. M. S. of the Jason
Lee church will hold its regular
meeting and quarterly tea Wed
nesday at 2:30 o'clock, in the
church parlors. Devotions will be
in charge of Mrs. Joe Delapp and
Mrs. A. F. Christensen will give
the lesson.

Miss Schwab Bride
of A. T. Wilde
Mt. Angel Miss Amanda Marie
Schwab, youngest daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Fred Schwab, and Al
bert T. Wilde, youngest son of
Frank Wilde and the late Mrs.
Theresa Wilde, were married
Monday morning at S o'clock at
an impressive ceremony at St.
Mary's church. Rev. Alcuin Hei
belfc O. S. B. read the service be
fore an altar beautiful with pink
and white flowers. The same col
or scheme was carried out in the
church sanctuary.
Miss Helen Keber presided at
the organ, playing both the pro
cessional and recessional marches.
St Mary's choir sang the high
mass and at the offertory Rev.
Bonaventure Huesser sang "Ave
Maria".
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, wore heavy white satin
designed in princess style with
long train. The long sleeves, puff
ed above the elbow, were finished
with points at the wrists. A gar-I party in her honor. The John
land of orange blossoms was ar- ston's, residents of this district
ranged at the neckline. Her long
trailing veil of handsomely em
broidered tulle was worn in cap
effect with clusters of orange
blossoms. She carried a cascade
bouquet of rosebuds, lilies of-the
valley and bouvardia and a white
pearl rosary.
Miss Mary Louise LeDoux, niece
of the bride, was bridesmaid. Al
vin Saalfeld attended the groom.
Following the ceremony the bri
dal party breakfasted at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Louis A. Schwab.
Table decorations were of pink
and white roses.
Later a wedding dinner was
served at the Mt. Angel hotel to
30 immediate relatives and
friends. The wedding march was
played by Miss Georgianna Bour
bonnais and Miss Agnes Walker
sang several solos during the din
ner. Assisting in serving were Miss
Charlotte Kruse, Miss Mary Big-

southern California. Upon their
return they will make their home
in ML Angel where Mr. Wilde is
in business.
Mrs. Wilde is a 'member of Mt.
Angel's younger set, having been
graduated from Mt. Angel normal
school and academy with the class
of 1930. She was associated with
her father in business here. Mr.
Wilde is a graduate of Mt. Angel
college.
Farewell Party is
Held at Hollywood
for Mrs. Johnston
HOLLYWOOD, June 3. Mrs.
Jessie Johnston was pleasantly
surprised Wednesday afternoon
when members of the Hollywood
Ladles Social club gave a farewell
for the past year or so, are mov
ing to Portland.
Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Wilcox of
Medford, were Sunday guests at
the home of Mrs. W. W. Fisher.
Mrs. L. G. Bright and children of
Bremerton, who have been visit
ing the past two weeks at the
Fisher home motored to Medford
with the Wilcox's on their return
trip.

seniors, were honored at the
graduation exercises here Friday
evening by being presented cups
for being the most outstanding
boy and girl In the entire student
body. They were selected by the
faculty from a field of ten voted
by the .students. Points taken In
to consideration in the awarding
of these honors were dependabil
ity, sportsmanship, loyalty and
character.
The senior class also received
special recognition by winning the
class citizenship cup for this year.
The cup was presented to George
Erland, president of the class.
Mildred Swafford, class adviser,
was presented with a gift from the
class.
Others to receive special men
tion at the exercises were Ivan
Makinster, valedictorian, Ruth
Yoder, salutatorian. and Lola
Fluke and Ruth Cordill, all named
on the grand honor roll.
Dr. Elam J. Anderson, pres
ident of Linfield college, spoke.
His subject was "Superior Auto
Wreckers." George Daugherty,
chairman of the school board,
presented the diplomas and gave
a talk.

by Liberty Pupils;
School Days Ended
LIBERTY, June 3. School
closed here Friday. Picnics for
the various rooms were to have
been held Wednesday but due to
the rainy weather the day was

The four upper grades were
taken to spend the afternoon Fri
day at Paradise Island for swim
ming, games and sports. Ice cream
was the treat given the pupils. In
charge were the teachers, A. V.
Meyers and Wayne Smith. A num
ber of parents also were present.

New Superintendent
of Hospital "is Due
at Silverton Today
SILVERTON, June 3. Miss
Edna Chrelian, who is to be the
superintendent of the Silverton
hospital, will arrive June 4, and
will spend a few days under the
supervision of Mrs. Herbert Pit
ney becoming acquainted with the
routine. Mrs. Pitney, who has
been superintendent for the past
few years, resigned to go to her
place near HUlsboro to rest.
The resignation will take effect
June 8.
