J PORTLAND, Feb. 27.HP)- There was no change In butter or butterfat prices on the local ex change today. While there was no further general change in the egg market for the day, an easy tone was sug gested. Prices showed slight shad ing in spots where a surplus wLs beginning to show. There was a light supply of live chickens in sight and prices con tinued firm. Leghorns were the chief desire ot the trade and of ferings were far below daily re quirements. While prices were generally held intact by distributors, a slow demand was showing for -country killed hogs. Retailers report that the public was buying sparingly. Country killed calves were in scant supply here with a contin ued famine in the trade and prices well held. Lambs were about steady. Beef demand remained keen at full prices. Prospect of Good Fruit Crops Seen In Mission Area Good prospects for an excellent crop of peaches, nuts and, Italian prunes are evident in the Mission Bottom region, says County Hor ticulturist S. U. Van Trump, who inspected orchards in that sec tion this week. A year ago this week, peaches were coming into blossom, he recalls, while right now the trees are still dormant. Cool nights have retarded the unusu ally early bloming that came last spring.
