.Dies at Woodburn,
Home for 30 Years
WOODBURN, Dec. 20. Chaun
cey Bennett Johnson, 79, died at
his home on Cleveland street
Wednesday morning. He was born
In Alameda ; county, California,
March 17, 1885, and came to Ore
gon In 1884. He has made his
home In Woodburn the past SO
years and has been employed as
Janitor for the Woodburn bank for
many years.
He was the last of a family f
seven sons. Surviving are a half
brother and half -sister and several
nephews and nieces, all In Cali
fornia. Funeral services will be
announced later.

Mrs. -Mary Hemdon received
word of the death of a sister's
husband, Carl Williamson, In Oak
land, Calif., on Thanksgiving day.
Death was caused from a heart
attack, suffered while listening
to the radio.
WIDOW OF FORMER
PASTOR IS CALLED
SILVERTON, Dec. 20. Word
was received - Wednesday of the
death of Mrs. Agnes Thorsen, 70,
Tuesday night at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. Donald Brown at
Minneapolis, .Minn. Mrs. Thorsen
was the mother of Mrs. Alt O.
Nelson of Silverton and the widow
of the Rev. A. J. Thorsen, for 42
years pastor of the Lutheran Sy
nod church at Rockdell, Minn.
Mrs. Thorsen was known to-many
at 811verton. .
Four years ago Mrs. Thorsen
was Injured in an automobile
accident, breaking her hip.
Shortly after she recovered from
this injury, she slipped and fell,
re-breaking her hip. Since then
she has been confined to her bed.
Besides Mrs. Nelson of Silver-
ton, Mrs. Thorsen Is survived by
the following children: Mrs. L.
H. Jacobson of Seattle, August
Thorsen and Dr. Marie Thorsen
of Los Angeles, Dr. A. A. Thor
sen, Dr. Adolph Thorsen, Her
man Thorsen and Mrs. Donald
Brown of Minneapolis, Mrs. Su

day that SERA classes would be
continued for three months, start
ing January 3. Miss Ruth Minor,
who has been teaching literature
and public speaking during the
past three months, will teach dra

Powell Attends
Funeral Albany

M. Powell of Silverton attended
the funeral of his brother, Willis
M. Powell, 66, at Albany Thurs
day afternoon. Mr. Powell died at
his home near Crabtree Tuesday.
Besides his brother Frank, sur
viving are one daughter, Mrs. F.
Toung of Crabtree and the follow
ing brothers and sisters. Lee Pow
