Bearcats went on a bitting ram
page and defeated the Oregon
State college baseball team 1 5 to
10 in a loosely played game here
today.
Each, team collected the same
number of hits as runs, but the
Bearers booted eight times to four
for Willamette.
In the fourth inning Willamette
batted around to score five runs
on three hits and in the sixth in
nlng scored six runs while the
Beavers were fumbling hard-hit
balls.
Dwight Aden of Willamette
and Weber, starting pitcher for
the Beavers, hit home runs.
Willamette was leading 15 to 4
before the Staters rallied to close
the gap. However the Beaver
rally never approached threaten
ing proportions.
The two teams play here again
tomorrow.

The weather being what It
it, no farther reminders of the
earliness of the season are ne

but anyhow the management

found it necessary to turn on
the water earlier "than ever be
fore. The green were given their
first wetting Thursday morning
and Friday the Irrigation had
extended to most of the fair

Sluggers of the Salem Linen
Mill and Parker's Softball team
made their efforts count in Fri
day night's league games on
Sweetland field and as a result
the linen weavers defeated Master
Bread 12 to 0 and Parker's de
feated Associated Oil 11 to 2.
Since the two games were going
on simultaneously and nobody
could watch both, honors for the
first home run of the season may
perhaps better be divided between
Harold Hauk of Salem Linen and
L. Singer of Parker's.
Nick Serdotz and McCaffery of
Salem Linen hit three-baggers,
and two-baggers were collected by
Elliott, Amend and Gies of Par
ker's, Hauk, Scheibner and Hof
fert of Salem Linen.
Parker's had its big inning In
the seventh when it scored six
runs, and Salem Linen did like
wise In the third.
Next Monday night the Elks
will play Pade's and Valley Motor
will meet Hollywood Auction.
