The Port of Missing: Men
One of the world's most unique jobsthat of tracing missing seamen is the self-appointed task of Mrs.
Jane ("Mother") Roper, matron of the Seaman's Institute, New York. For 40 rears, Mrs. Roper has traced
wanderers before the mast over the seven seas and into every corner of the world where ships sail. On her
, Missing List" at the institute are hundreds of names and photos of men whom she seeks and of whom,
sooner or later, she will hear. For she has friends in every port in the world who aid her in her work. Since
2920 Mrs. Roper has traced no less than 6,000 seamen who had been given up for lost. She has also been the
means of restoring many a farm lad to the family he left over some little difficulty, for she is "Mother Con
fessor" to the great army of seafarers who risit New York every year.

WOODBURN, Feb. 1. The
Kla Klux Eorkers, boys 4-H club,
met at the homo of their leader.
Mrs. H. Orerton. Harold Schlel
was elected press reporter. A dem

Dick Whitman acting as cooks.
The boys brought surprise re

whoso birthday was Sunday.
Group singing followed with gui-
Jane writes her best friend: "Mother!
here you know. Came last Saturday.
Motlier said: You're serving Hills Bros.
Coffee, of course?' Well, I'd been using
something I thought was cheaper not so
good. Mother sort of snorted. You know
how she does. Said: 'Cheaper? My dear
daughter, although you may have to pay
a few pennies more, don't you know Hills
Bros. Coffee actually goes farther because
it's made of the finest green coffees? You
ought to think about the price per cup.
That's the way you drink coffee by the
cup. Not by the pound.' So we got Hills
Bros. Coffee and had such a good time.
Now we're having Hills Bros. Coffee all
the time. John says it's swell. And best
of all Hills Bros. Coffee is not costing
cup for cup a bit more than the 'bargain
counter' coffees I was using!"
