Methodist mid-year rallies or the
Salem district to be held at the

Wednesday, February 20 and 21,
was announced yesterday by Dr.
Louis Magin, district superinten
dent. Bishop Titus Lowe will pre
side at all sessions.
The rally will feature several
outside speakers, including Dr.
S. BoTard of Chicago, secre
tary, of the board of education;
Wr. W. A. Dawber of Philadel
phia, secretary of the board of
home missions; and Dr. R. E. Dif
fendorfer of New York, secretary
of foreign missions.
The rally will open Tuesday
night at 6:30 o'clock, with a
tnen'a banquet, at which Dr. Bo
Tard will be the speaker. At 8
o'clock a mass meeting for every
one will be held, Dr. Dawber to
bring the message. Three meet
ings will be held Wednesday, with
the program outlined as follows:

Rev. H. G. Humphrey, pastor
of Jason Leo Methodist Episcopal
church, announces he has Invited
Ernest W, Peterson, religious ed
itor of the Portland Journal, to
occupy his pulpit Sunday night.
Mr. Peterson is president of
the Oregon Methodist Conference
Layman's association and recent
ly went to New York city to rep
resent Northwest Methodism at
the annual meeting of the Meth
odist board of foreign missions.
At this session he had opportun
ity to meet religious leaders from
throughout the world and will
therefore speak to the subject,
"The International Religious Sit
nation Today". In his capacity as
religious editor for nearly 15
years of the Portland daily. Mr.
Peterson keeps in close touch al
most every week with the general
religious situation, as bardly a
week passes but some interna
tionally known religious figure
visits Portland, whom Mr. Peter
son Interviews.
Mr. Peterson has advised Rev.
Humphrey that he will take the
audience on a "religious trip
around the world," spending two
or three minutes in each country
reviewing religious conditions as
they actually are . today.
Owing to the nature of the
meeting Jason Lee church is In
viting Methodists in Marion coun
ty who want to hear this talk,
and the general public, to the ser
