Most ot the stock in pack ers' hands Is firmly held and no marked Increase In selling is ex pected until after the first of the year. While little domestic pur chasing has taken place, Inquiry Mndlcates that wholesalers' stocks are low and some interest is be ing taken regarding purchases in the near future. EGBS IS EXTENSIVE PORTLAND, Dec. 8. (JF) Recent action on the egg trade with the demoralising Influence of storage goods being generally of fered to tho public as fresh stocs:, is resulting In increasing agita tion among producers for some legal measures to stop such prac tice. Increasing supplies of fresh eggs have resulted In some stores entirely eliminating the storage goods as much as that can he done. The market is receiving con siderable fresh extras but pullets are scarce and no longer general ly quoted. There remained a weak situa tion in the butter trade here and practically everywhere in the country with continued diversion of surplus raw milk into churn ing plants. Sales were reported on the open market at shaded fig ures. . Chickens continued scarce in the local trade but not sufficiently so to affect the price. Turkeys continued to dominate the chick en trade and keep values down for all offerings. There was an entire lack of snap in potato movement rrom any leading primary center. De mand was small. Export demand for apples con tinued to show as liberally as space can be secured for loading from Pacific northwest points. Domestic markets were consider ed steady. 0RE6DF1 TUB PORTLAND. Dec S. Many residents of Honolulu will feast on Oregon turkeys this Christmas. A carload of Oregon birds la being rushed la small lots from various Oregon points for shipment from San Francisco to the Islands. - - Selling of turkeys for shippers to supply the Christmas trade is Increasing each day at Oregon points of production. Tho latest Idea Is that, around It carloads, containing a minimum of 24,008 pounds each, will he rolled oat Oregon destined ; for tho , large sstAm markets Iit mid-week. This volume is somewhat below the normal movement, . . Leading- operators believe ship ments to the east should be at I least 24 carload la order to re ! Hero the local market from pres sure of last minute shipments. Buyers are still generally offer ing 12 cents a pound net to grow- I era at country points for tho best birds. Cooperative organizations are reported making advances of 10 cents a pound for best birds. Locally the trade is fully steady but at practlcally- no change In general selling values. NEW YORK, Dec t.
