The address will be deliv ered by K. E. Burke. Burke will be in charge of the music for the ser vice. j Following the preaching ser vice the young people of the dif ferent churches will be in. charge of a social time in the basement rooms o! the church. Booths will be displayed of materials which the youag people have gathered to turn -over to the local Red Cross. All who would like to help the young people in this matter are urged to call one of the pas tors or bring the materials to the church Thursday night. Vegeta bles and fruit both fresh and can ned, staple groceries and clothing are being collected by the young people. Old Age Penison Will Jbe Delayed. Present Outlook Members of the bouse commit tee on counties and cities reach ed virtual agreement Tuesday that the operations of the old age pension law would have to be de layed unless some new source of revenue is found. County courts of the state find themselves un able to levy property taxes to meet the requirements of the act. it was stated by Earl Day, county judge of Jackson county. The courts have asked for the opera tion of the law to be deferred for two years. The committee will make a hunt for another revenue source other than the ad valorem tax, according to Don Ryan, chairman. Mrs. Cole Dies; Funeral to be Held Thursday STAYTON, Not. 28. Mrs. S. Senator Brown has announced. State Tax Levy To be Revealed Today; Increase The 1934 state tax levy Is to be announced today, members of the state - tax commission have advised. This is the last day on which the tax can be promulgat ed according to law. The levy is expected to total 6 per cent more than in 1933 since the state has been operating under a deficit for many years and must levy to the full extent of the constitutional restriction in order to reduce the deficit. State tax authorities declared yesterdsy the 1934 levy would probably impose a three-mill tax on all real property. By the end of 1934 the state deficit will probably be reduced to $1,400, 000 or nearly $3,000,000 from the 34,300.000 figure at the end of 1932. Late Sports PORTLAND, Nov. 28. (IP) Young Firpo of Bnrke, Idaho, won a decision over Wesley Ketcnell of Portland, in the 10-round main event on tonight's fight card here. Firpo weighed 174. nine pounds more than eKtchell. The Portland fighter started out strong in the first round, dropping Firpo to the canvas, but the Burke miner came back In the second to send Ketchell down for a short count, and in the sixth he shot a hard right to the chin and Ketchell went down for a count of nine Ketchell staged a comeback in the final rounds, but could not overcome the lead Firpo had piled up.
