Iambs and chickens were lower on October 15 than on September 15, but farm prices of cotton, cot tonseed, hay, hogs dairy pro ducts and eggs were higher, with the net result that the farm price index of the bureau of agricultural economics was 70 on October 15, the same as on September IS. De spite the absence of change in the price on butter here recently or since the market was advanced in spite of a greater make, there has been an undercurrent of weakness suggested. Offers to sell butter to those members of the exchange who forced advances there, have failed e?en at a dis count of Vt c lb. from the quoted figures. At the same time sug gestion is made that another fight is on for butterfat. Market for fresh eggs continued steady and without price change here. Pressure remained In off grade stuff and especially offer ings from out-state points. Live chicken market was now steady here with all sorts Quoted at unchanged prices. Buyers were once more agreed upon the quo tation to be paid after the re cent flareup. Market on country killed calves was very sick here with continued heavy receipts and a daily carry over of liberal volume. Sale stuff was therefore showing further price shading in spots ice Bnaaing in spots. There was a rather good buy- lng movimeni or country auieu . . IfM. J 1 hogs here even though there have been several late price reductions on live stuff. Lambs, however, were inclined to show weakness. While primary points contin ued to talk of betterment in the potato market, locally there was no change in the situation. Suf ficient rollers were arriving here to keep down values at least on Takimas. Oregon onion deal was still of nominal volume. Some late pur chases have continued for the Or ient but the business was said to be placed at a small margin of profit. Yakimas continued very weak. Arrivals of Tokay grapes from Grants Pass were reported. Qual ity was good with sales 21. Cal ifornlan were badly mixed as to quality and price. Filbert nut grading was sianea here.
