PORTLAND, Attg. $). (AP) -'.
Egg market prices in. Portland -were
Quotable on a basis where
little actual business was . being
done. A late survey of the mar
ket disclosed the fact that either
lower prices were, being openly
quoted or in many instances re
bates were being made. Both of
tfcese have an unsettling Influ
ence upon the market. As quot
able, Portland was the highest
egg market along the c o svs U
which neither supply nor demand
Justified.
Receipts of eggs continued
quite liberal with an Increasing
supply of the smaller sorts. The'
outflow of old storage stock was
also a factor. '
Market on butter remained
quiet although; there was a'
scramble for needs of real extras,'
which were very scarce and Jus
tify higher prices instead of the
lower score recently boosted by
the produce exchange.
There was further gain In the
demand for live chickens locally
with a continuance of the fight
between dealers.
