J (AP) Extra eggs wera quoted up to 22c a dosen In tha Portland market but few actual sales were being made at the high point, Only se lected stock was generally report ed moving at the top. the bulk ot the supplies selling 1 to 2c dozen below. Too much short held storage eggs were being withdrawn for - the good ot the trade and the price. Much ice house goods was moving Into trade channels as fresh stock but most of this ap- peared to. ba selling below top quotations. Receipts were very liberal with an Increasing supply of aallets which were complicating tha sit uation. r Trade in tbe butter market was still comparatively slow with in dications of weakness. Specula tors were scared and there was no longer a call for movement In to store. More activity was suggested In the market for live chickens here even though outside centers fail to give the same impression. Late advance of le lb; in buying prices was being maintained. Trade was still calling for dressed turkeys and especially for hens, which are extremely scarce. Up to 18c lb. was still being free ly offered by buyers for good quality. Continued steadiness was show ing for country killed meats with the exception of beef, which was in scant call and liberal offering. Most coolers were full of beet. Demand, tor quality lettuce was now so good that prices were higher all along the line. Sales of fancy nocthwest stock were now being made as high aa $1 with ordinary stuff 75-80c crate. Larger sized California Elbert peaches were quoted np to $1 here but demand continued chief ly for local early varieties. Stocks Average One-Point Loss After Quiet Day NEW YORK.
