The Mosers crossed the plains In 1SS2 and set tled In Marion county. Hartman ot Waplnltla, was re tained as historian. The clan numbers more than 700 members today, and runs down to the fifth generation from Joseph and Isabella Moser. Save for one daughter who died In her seventies, the 10 children ot the original couple all llTed to be SO years old or more. The Mosers crossed the plains In 1852, in the Jim Dixon train, and when Dixon branched off for the California mines, Moser became-captain of the train. They setled In Marlon county and from the family comes such well known Oregon names ss the Stantons, Bollns, Hartmans snd Whitlocks. Pioneer community club won the $10 prize which was given at the Polk county farmers' picnic Saturday afternoon in Dallas. Among those who had a part In helping win were Mrs. Roy Black and Mrs. Clyde Robbtns who won first and second place in the rooster race. Frank Darnheck- er won first place in the fat man's race.
