WEAKNESS EVIDrM
IN EGGS. REPORTED
PORTLAND, June 11 (AP)
Weakness in the egg trade wasl
generally shown. Weather condi
tions were not only against qual
ity but likewise retards demand
somewhat. The local co-ops "con-
tinued their nominal Quotations
at the extreme point. Most private
"
wnai tne co-ops are nominally
naming.
There was practically no change
in the butter market situation for
the day. Demand was sufficient to
en up current out-state offer-
lngs as well as local churning.
There has been a complete re
versal of demand for spring chick
ens with the small stuff in best
call.
First Oregon grown Blng cher-
small but of good Quality, nrlced
. . . -
nominally x i.z& per IS lb box
All iVaAna-k a. .
nu8u m yUilv uur,
new and old, there was an im
proved trend. In all parts ef the
country there has been an awak
ening in old potatoes which are
very scarce.
There was practically no change
In the general country meat trade
for the day. Good quality calves
were moving out within the price
range and hogs were fairly
steady. Lambs were depressed.
Better prices were showing in
the strawberry market. Prices
wereffrmer and generally higher
with a general top of $1.50 for
good stuff with some quoting
fractionally higher or lower.

Almost the entire list of grains

Indications pointed to a return

notice, too. was taken of a state

losses of winter wheat, together
with damage to spring wheat,
meant probably the smallest
total domestic wheat crop in

COAST PEAR CROP
TO EE AOIOAI
CORVALLIS, Ore., June 21.
(AP) A good demand for straw
berries in the face of a short crop,
the first harvesting of a large
cherry crop, and indications of en
abundant Pacific coast pear crop
were reported today by the USDA
bureau of agricultural economics
cooperating with the O. S. C. ex
tension serrice in a review of
fruit markets.
Though the moTement of straw
berries increased rapidly last
week, prices remained at $1.50 to
$1.85 a crate to retailers. Yields
are light and the weak condition
of the plants i causing irregular
quality. Barrellers are said to be
abandoning all grade require
ments in an effort to obtain sup
plies for their needs.
Cherry prospects are better
than a year ago though the crop
Is later than usual. California,
harrestlng is progressing steadily.
but shipments to the Pacific
northwest hae been light as de
mand Is limited. Eastern auctions
on California shipments show
prices of $1.50 to $2.15 at New
York for 14 to 15 pound lugs of
Bings.
