LETTUCE IS STEM
PORTLAND, June 1 (AP)
Market for butter reflected a
steady to firm tone outside of the
produce exchange and there was
no change there for the late ses
sion. Butterfat was fully steady.
Situation In the egg trade was
weak despite the absenc of price
change by leading distributors.
There was considerable secret
price shading despite this. In fact
retail sales were . occasionally
shown for less than wholesale
lists.
Firmness was suggested all
through the market for live poul
try with prices well held for all
offering.
With smaller supplies la sight
and with weather conditions fav
orable for sal here, strawberries
from California were Quoted at a
further ris at $1.90-2.25 crate
for 24s. Locals were nominally
12.75-3.
Local lettuce wgs showing a
steady tone with the bulk of the
sales around J 1-1.25 crate. Qual
ity was Increasing.
