Mohair Steady
PORTLAND May 23 (AP)
Another adranee of one cent
poand la the haying price on
Willamette ralley wool has been
recorded here. The price is now
21 cents for medinm, and It
cents for coarse. One large oper
ator said today "There has been
further betterment in the tone,
Little business in ralley fleece
has yet been reported, due
greatly to weather conditions
which hare prerented large-scale
shearing. Another reason is that
the woolmen apparently are
holding oat for more money.
Mohair is holding rather
steady at 10 cents for arerage
hair, with small supplies begin
ning to arrlre.

BUTTER OFF BR
t
PORTLAND, May 23 (AP)
Slowly increasing total offerings
of butter locally were taking care
of general needs of the trade.
During the late session of the
produce exchange there was no
change in cube quotations. Val
ues on the open market were
safely maintained.
Last week's total risible sup
ply of butter in Portland in
cluded 274.271 pounds according
to the department ot agriculture
report, compared with 259.799
pounds the .previous rreek. The
local manufacture showed a ra
ther fair increase while outstate
offerings were decreased during
the period.
Butterfat continued of un
changed Talue.
Trading in the egg market was
generally steady for the day. De
mand for current receipts was
quite firm and prices maintained.
While "peepers" continued to
show weakness in the lire chick
en trade, practically all other
sorts of hens and broilers show
well maintained demand at
cent prices. Some look for
advance.
