May 18 At a special meeting of the board of directors of the Silrerton cham ber of commerce held Thursday morulas a resolution was passed to the effect that as far as the board of directors is concerned no farther action will be taken in an attempt to reduce the tax budget for the city council and school board. ; , This morning's meeting was a continuation of one begun Wed nesday night at which H. R. Irish, chairman of the- board of direc tors of the fiilverton public schools was present and explain ed what reductions had been made in the expense of operating the Silrerton schools andstated that the schol board, had made, every effort to reduce the running ex penses of the Silrerton schools as requested by the board of direc tors of the chamber of commerce at a meeting held December IS. 1932, and still maintain a stand ard achooL The resolution passed at Thurs day morning's meeting was ap proved by all directors except Alt O. Nelson, local attorney ..and chairman .of the tax reduction committee ot the chamber of commerce. Mr. Nelson recently presented one of the so-called "economy petitions' to the Silrer ton school board after Its circul ation in the district. O. Gunder- son and seconded by R. A. Fish. Other members of the board pres ent were Henry Aim, Dr. P. A. Loar, and George Hubbs. E. .L. Murray's nom ination was accomplished yester day when a petition signed by more than 20 taxpayers was tiled with the county school superin tendent's office here. Murray will seek the election as a director to represent sone four in the county. The non-high school territory has been divided into five sones, each ot whieh will have a director. Voting will be by sones at large.
