D. A. bureau of agricultural economics cooperating with the O. S. C. ex tension srrice. Butter production is generally lower than a year ago with the greatest decline oa the Pacific coast where pasture snd feed con ditions are poor. Storage holdings in this region are now only about 40 per cent of a year ago, accord ing to latest reports. Large western markets were also stronger tbls week though price advances were not as pro nounced as in the far west. Con sumption has been fairly satisfac tory, absorbing current arrivals and drawing somewhat on storage stocks. Total national storage I holdings aro slightly more than the total a year ago. However the best demand continues for standards and for firsts. Advance of lc lb. in tbe buying price on butterfat at 21c per A' grade followed the. rise In butter at the weekend. Market for eggs continued very badly mixed with prices actually lower in many retail shops than were being quoted by leadluz wholesale distributors.
