From three small plantings totalling 14 acres la 1121, Zimmerman wheat has increased until tba psst year several haadred acres were plant ed and now supplies are being: shipped from Polk to adjoining counties for spring seeding. In the early spring of 1128 County Agent J. R. Beck, secured a small lot of this white spring wheat from Mr. Zimmerman at Shedd In Linn county. Mr. Zim merman developed tha variety by selection. This wheat has distrib uted to William Rlddell. James Rtddell and Laird Llndeman. Zimmerman wheat planted in tba spring has proven a better ytelder than such varieties as Houston and In addition has tha added point of being a white wheat that can ba sold with reg ular fall varieties without a dis count. A few days ago a carload ship ment of this seed was sent from Monmouth to McMinnville for use In Yamhill county.. None of tbe five Willamette university freshmen women In jured In the serenade accident Sunday morning suffered frac tures. It has been definitely deter mined. He said tha students undoubtedly would insure nerearter that transports tion was safe. The accident resulted whan i side gate in a stake truck gave way as ine mscnine turned a cor ner, throwing the students to the pavement. MRS. WAARVICal WINNER SILVERTON. March 10 (AP) Farther decrease la batter manufacture was reflected today. This was perhaps the chief faetor la saving current values. There was a leaser demand for offerings but tha cut in output practically makes supply and demand about equal. Thera was no change in the prica list on batter for tba day. Both prints and cubes were sta tionary in value on tbe open mar ket, Thera was no change la the price on butterf at Hera and there soma creameries were reported out with premiums of 1 to 2c above tha established price, but generally thera was almost a uni form quotation. Market for eggs continues to re- fleet a mixture of prices. There were various rumors of secret price cuts but these were uncon firmed. However, some sellers claim they were being undersold by competitors. Thera was a very acute short age of chickens In the live poultry trade. The scarcity includes all sorts but tba chief loss Is in light weight offerings. All prices were nominally firm. -Only a tew handfuls of dressed turkeys were reaching tha local trade with resulting strength in tha price. This wss perhaps lc higher than early in the week. Quality was not suite so good. There was a scarcity of country killed meat offering! with corres ponding strength is values. Good calves were especially short as were spring lambs. Tbe latter were nominally quoted. Spring ducks were in small sup ply in the live poultry trade and demand was good. Sales were be ing made at aa advance of lc. Old ducks were In small call.
