(AP) Portland butter trade was break ing away today from the grasp of interests that are Interested mostly In what outside markets were quoting. The advance gen erally during the late session of the produce exchange further confirmed previous ideas of the trade that former actions forced by shippers there were out of line with actual supply and demand. The advance Included 1 cent for extra and one-half cent each for standard and prime first. There was no change in firsts. U Mske of butter continues sea sonably small at practically all points along the coast and is . especially curtailed within the . home territory. Efforts of ship pers to keep the market here below others so that shipments to California would be profitable. . failed because) open market bids were higher than exchange quotations- and finally forced the de feat of those who tried to hold down values.
